Medūza

Videokapsulė

Videokapsulė is a space dedicated to artists' films and experimental cinema, hosting screenings of new and historical video works, curated programmes, presentations and discussions. Videokapsulė aims to be a place where different modes of visuality can meet, and the fabric of reality can emerge against the backdrop of moving images created by artists.

Videkapsulė was designed by architects Petras Išora and Ona Lozuraitytė, who were inspired by Invisible Cinema, designed by the legendary Austrian experimental filmmaker Peter Kubelka, which was housed in the Anthology Film Archives cinema in New York in the 1970s. Invisible Cinem a sought to create ideal conditions for cinema viewing, removing as far as possible all distractions and creating an immediate relationship between the viewer and the work being shown. Departing from this idea, the Videokapsulė was conceived as an independ
ent layer woven into the existing historical interior of the Medūza, as if it were a cast of this space

We would like to thank Epson, Ergolain, Piritas, Isora x Lozuraityte studio, the artists, Lithuanian Council for Culture.
