LDS šiuolaikinio meno ir kultūros erdvė „Medūza“rudens parodų sezoną pradeda pristatydama lankytojams nuo 2011 metų aktyviai tarptautiniame meno lauke veikiančio menininkų kolektyvo Lou Cantor parodą „Parallax”. Parodos atidarymas vyks rugsėjo 7 d., šeštadienį, 18 val. Lietuvos dailininkų sąjungos meno erdvėje „Medūza“ (Šv. Jono g. 11, Vilnius).
Parodos kompoziciją sudaro dvi iš pažiūros skirtingos, tačiau temiškai susijusios dalys. Pagrindinėse ekspozicijų salėse lankytojus pasitiks kūriniai iš serijos „The Crystal World“, kuri yra įkvėpta žymaus Jameso Grahamo Ballardo romano tuo pačiu pavadinimu. Tai didelio formato paveikslai, kuriuose vaizduojamos akimirkos iš visuomenę sukrėtusių įvykių ir juose įsipainiojusių žmonių išgyvenimų.
„Šie vaizdai iš, pavyzdžiui, įsiveržimo į JAV Kapitolijų, neramumų viešosiose įstaigose Brazilijoje ir kitų, vien tik politiniais motyvais nepaaiškinamų, įvykių, - paskoja parodos kuratorius Audrius Pocius, - Lou Cantor kūriniuose tokie vaizdiniai yra pertraukiami inkrustuotų ametisto kristalų. Jie ne veltui primena mįslingą virusą, krištole sustingdžiusį Afrikos žemyną minėtame Ballardo romane. Parodoje tai veikia it metafora, bylojanti apie sudėtingas socialinės laisvės ir pažinimo galimybių problemas šiuolaikinėje visuomenėje, tikslingas patirtis gebančių kurti technologijų fone.“
Antroji parodos dalis, eksponuojama „Medūzos“ Videokapsulėje ir į ją vedančiuose kambariuose, yra skirta specialiai šiai parodai sukurtiems video kūriniams, kviečiantiems giliau susipažinti su menininkus dominančiomis temomis. Atsispirdami nuo neurologo Ivano Pavlovo eksperimentų su šunimis, keturi trumpo metro filmai iš skirtingų perspektyvų plėtoja pasakojimus apie elgsenos mokslo ištakas, implikacijas ir keliamus iššūkius pritaikant jo atradimus elgesio modeliavimo strategijose bei komunikacijos technologijų dizaine.
Apie menininkus
Lou Cantor yra 2011 m. Berlyne įkurtas menininkų kolektyvas (šiuo metu jį sudaro Jozefina Chetko ir Kolja Glaeser), kurio pagrindinė interesų sritis yra intersubjektyvumas ir tarpasmeninė komunikacija. Lou Cantor praktika tyrinėja daugiaprasmišką šiuolaikinės komunikacijos minų lauką, kuriame terpė, pranešimas ir prasmė nuolat atsimuša viena į kitą. Plėtodami savo tyrimų lauką, jie reguliariai leidžia leidinius skaitytojams ir patys prisideda prie įvairių publikacijų. Medūza, the Lithuanian Artists' Union space for contemporary art and culture, starts its autumn exhibition season with the exhibition Parallax by Lou Cantor, a collective of artists who have been active in the international art field since 2011. The exhibition will be opened on Saturday, September 7, 2018, at Medūza (Šv. Jono g. 11, Vilnius).
The composition of the exhibition consists of two seemingly different but thematically related parts. In the main exhibition halls, visitors will be greeted by works from the series The Crystal World, which is inspired by James Graham Ballard's famous novel of the same name. These are large-format paintings depicting moments from the events that have shaken society and the experiences of the people caught up in them.
"These images from, for example, the storming of the US Capitol, the public disturbances in Brazil and other events that cannot be explained by political motives alone, - says Audrius Pocius, the curator of the exhibition, - in works by Lou Cantor are interrupted by encrusted amethyst crystals. This idea also recalls the mysterious virus that crystallized the African continent in Ballard's novel. In the exhibition, it acts as a metaphor for the complex problems of social freedom and cognitive possibilities in contemporary society, against the backdrop of technologies capable of creating targeted, personal experiences."
The second part of the exhibition, on display in Medūza‘s Videocapsule and the rooms leading to it, is dedicated to video works created especially for this exhibition, inviting a deeper insight into the themes that interest the artists. Starting from the neuroscientist Ivan Pavlov's experiments with dogs, the four short films develop, from different perspectives, narratives about the origins, implications and challenges of behavioural science, applying its findings to behavioural modelling strategies and the design of communication technologies.

Lou Cantor is an artist collective founded in 2011 in Berlin (currently consisting of Jozefina Chetko and Kolja Glaeser), whose main field of interest is intersubjectivity and interpersonal communication. Lou Cantor's practice explores the ambiguous minefield of contemporary communication, where medium, message and meaning are constantly bouncing off each other. As part of their expanding field of research, they regularly produce publications for readers and contribute to various publications themselves.
